Squamish Mountain Trails- Elfin Lakes

Elfin Lakes: Elevation 1565 meters (5118 feet)

Approximately 85 KM (53 miles) from Vancouver, British Columbia. Hiking time round trip- 6.5 to 7 hrs to Elfin Lakes. Round trip roughly 22KM (13.6 miles), elevation gain-620M (2027 feet). The trail continues on beyond Elfin Lakes heading north into the area around Mt Garibaldi- see 1997 pictures. Best time is usually July to October.

Directions: Drive north on highway 99 from Vancouver to Squamish. Continue north on highway 99 a few kilometers past Squamish and turn right onto Mamquam Road. This road also has a sign saying Garibaldi Park. Follow Mamquam Road which runs beside the river at first and then turns left and climbs steadily up to the park. Total distance on Mamquam road from the highway to the parking area is about 16KM (10 miles). At the parking area there is a gate and information board at the start of the trail.
